Nancy Garhan Attebury has penned fifteen educational books for children including Gloria Steinem: Champion of Women’s Rights, which was selected for the 2007 Amelia Bloomer List, Out and About at the United States Mint. “Highlights for Children,” “Jack and Jill,” and “Humpty Dumpty” and other magazines have carried her work.

She writes children’s book reviews and creates lesson plans for educational magazines. She motorcycles, skis, and hikes in her spare time. Exposing children to a regional event that appeals to everyone is what Nancy hopes to do with ‘Twas the Night Before Round-Up. George Attebury, her husband’s grandfather, rode saddle bronc in the 1912 Round-Up.
Joan Gilbert Madsen
Illustrator: 'Twas the Night Before Round-Up
Joan Gilbert Madsen is a native Oregonian and grew up in La Grande. She attended Eastern Oregon University and received her BFA degree in Art from Oregon State University. Joan currently lives in Enterprise, Oregon with her husband and two kids. Joan has her own graphic arts business, j.creative. She works as a graphic designer/illustrator and can’t imagine a more fun career. Joan volunteers bringing art into the local schools and area summer camps.
